Jayalalithaa threatens to sue Karunanidhi


Jayalalithaa CHENNAI: AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa threatened to sue Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi, seeking Rs one crore as damages if he did not apologise for his remarks that her party might have “instigated” the recent violence in Dr Ambedkar Law college here, which left three students injured.

In a legal notice sent to Karunanidhi through her lawyer, Jayalalithaa said AIADMK had never instigated anyone to indulge in violence and charged Karunanidhi with making a false accusation against her party.

Persuade Sri Lanka to provide equal rights to Tamils


Ganesan.L, BJP Tamil Nadu President COIMBATORE: India must persuade Sri Lanka to announce soon equal rights for Tamils on its soil, even as it carries out military action against the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), Bharatiya Janata Party State president L. Ganesan told press persons here on Wednesday.

“We cannot accept Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s stand that the rights issue will be dealt with only on completion of the military offensive against the LTTE. We cannot trust the present Sri Lankan Government. It is not doing anything to win over the Tamils. But, a situation is being created where they are forced to look towards the LTTE for a solution,” Mr. Ganesan said.

My remarks on AIADMK were to make fun - Karunanidhi


Karunanidhi Chennai (PTI): Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi on Tuesday said his remarks that AIADMK might have incited the violence in Dr B R Ambedkar Law College here was only to make “fun” of its chief Jayalalithaa’s demand for his resignation owning moral responsibility of the incident.

In a statement, he asked if Jayalalithaa had to file a defamation case against him for his remarks, “how many cases had to be filed against her for making disparaging remarks.”

Karunanidhi hospitalised


karunanidhi hospitalisedChennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi  on Friday admitted to a city hospital after he complained of severe neck and back pain.

Doctors attending on him at the Sri Ramachandra Medical College Hospital said he will need to spend at least a few days in the hospital as he needed complete rest.

Tamil Nadu Finance Minister K Anbazhagan has appealed to the public not to disturb the Chief Minister till he recovers completely.
